1. Consent Agenda

The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items:

a. Approval of the claims docket

b. Trip approvals

(1) Tropical Wave showchoir to Birmingham, AL on February 20-21, 2004 for competition

(2) LBHS varsity dance team to Orlando, FL on January 29-February 2, 2004 for national dance team competition

c. Disposal of old textbooks

d. Accept donations of computer and folders

E. Amended Budget for Year Ended FY03

The Superintendent recommends approving the amended budget for year ended FY03

F. Request to Exempt Items from Purchase Order Requirements

The Superintendent recommends exempting certain items from purchase order requirements

G. Resolution of Capital Lease

The Superintendent recommends approval of the resolution to issue the capital lease with Hancock Bank

H. Request to Write Off-Line Checks

The Superintendent requests permission to write off-line checks for reimbursement of travel, officials, utility bills (gas, electric, phone, water, garbage) and travel advances approved by superintendent

I. Student Releases

The Superintendent recommends acceptance/release of the following students:

· Releasing one student to attend Gulfport Schools where her mother is employed

· Accepting children of Beverly Hamil (employed with LBSD) being released from Pass Christian School District

· Accepting children of Ethel Fairley (employed with Aramark in LBSD) from Harrison County School District

The Superintendent recommends denying the release of a student from Long Beach Schools to attend Gulfport Schools (parent not employee of Gulfport Schools)

J. Adoption of Policies

The Superintendent recommends adoption of the following policies which have been on the table for 30 days:

1. Attendance Policy (Descriptor Code: JB)

2. Alcohol, Drug Use Policy (Descriptor Code: JCBJ)

K. Amendments to Alternative School Handbook

The Superintendent recommends the board approve amendments to the alternative school handbook

L. Award Contract for Middle School Security System

The Superintendent recommends the board award the contract for the middle school security system

M. Personnel

1. Resignations

The Superintendent recommends the board accept the following resignations:

· Leonilda Thompson, Food Service Assistant at Middle School, effective immediately

· Lisa Thompson, teacher assistant at Quarles Elementary, effective immediately

2. Supplement Recommendations

The Superintendent recommends the board approve the supplement recommendations for coaches and sponsors for the 2003-04 school year

3. Move Class Size Reduction Teacher

The Superintendent recommends moving the class size reduction teacher from first grade to second grade at Reeves, so we do not overload the other two first grade teachers

4. Title Funds Paying for Assistant

The Superintendent recommends the salary of Dee Dee Keel, assistant at Quarles Elementary be paid with Title Funds

5. Employment Recommendations

The Superintendent recommends hiring the following individuals for the 2003-04 school year:

- Robin Young as administrative assistant at Reeves Elementary, effective immediately, replacing Wendy Hutchinson. She will be placed on the salary scale at H-4, Level 5

- Faye Danielson as substitute bus driver effective August 12, 2003

- Mary Farris as Food Service Assistant Level 2 at the Middle School

- The following individuals as food service substitutes, effective August 1, 2003 at $5.75 per hour:

The Superintendent recommends approval of a budget amendment for the 2003-04 year
