C. Recognitions
We will recognize the following people for their accomplishments:
· Karen Gifford – New Counselor of the Year –Mississippi Counseling Association
· Kristen Hamilton – Southern Association of Student Councils Scholarship and member of LBHS South State Volleyball Champions
· Teacher of the Year for Each School/District:
LB High School – Rebecca Bradley
LB Middle School – Tricia Jackson
Harper McCaughan – Evelyn L. Terry
Reeves – Jenny A. Webber
District – Susan L. Ladner
D. Business
1. Consent Agenda
The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items:
a. Claims docket
b. Trip approvals
(1) Discovery students at Harper McCaughan to Mobile, AL to IMAX theater – tentative dates are 3rd and 4th grade students on January 20th; 4th and 5th grades students on January 22nd;
(2) Three Quarles students and Music teacher to Jackson, MS on February 5-7, 2004 to perform for the Mississippi Music Educators Convention as part of the All State Honors Choir.
c. Request to use school facilities
(1) South Coast Martial Arts is requesting to use the high school or middle school gym on Saturday January 31st (neither gym is available on this date) for a tournament and Saturday, March 6th (high school gym available) for a prep tournament for A.A.U. They will make a $200 donation to the school district for use of the gyms.
(2) The Cub Scouts are requesting to use Harper McCaughan Cafeteria on January 31, 2004 for a Pinewood Derby.
(3) Long Beach Youth Basketball is requesting to use Reeves gym for basketball practices on Monday nights in January and February, 2004.

E. Budget Amendments
The Superintendent recommends approval of budget amendments to the FY’04 budget.
F. Request to Add World Civilization I and World Civilization II as dual Enrollment Classes with MGCCC
The Superintendent recommends approval to add World Civilization I and II as dual enrollment classes with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
G. Award Bids on Commercial Freezer and Commercial Light Poles/Fixtures
The Superintendent recommends awarding bids as follows
· Commercial freezer to low bidder Associated Food and Equipment in the amount of $14,785.00
· Commercial Light Poles/Fixtures to low bidder Monti Electric in the amount of $26,300.00
H. Approve Safety Policy for Workers Compensation
The Superintendent recommends approving a district safety policy for workers’ compensation.
I. Approval of Position and Job Description for Behavioral Facilitator
The Superintendent recommends approval of a position and job description for a behavioral facilitator.
J. Personnel
1. Employee Recommendations
The Superintendent recommends approval of the following personnel:
· Martha Hart to teacher AP U.S. Government at Long Beach High School during the second semester of the 2003-04 school year;
· Lisa Dennis as Food Service Assistant/Level 2 at Reeves Elementary @ $6.48 per hour, effective 12/11/03, with probationary period being waived as she was a previous employee.
