1. Consent Agenda
The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items
a. Approval of the claims docket
b. Trip approvals
(1) Twenty-five students and advisors to MSU in Starkville, MS on March 26 and 27, 2004 for Mississippi Association of Student Councils Convention
(2) Fifteen students, three coach attorneys and one sponsor to Lamar County Courthouse on February 26, 27, and 28th for mock trial competition
(3) Melinda Nabors, Debra Savarese and Deborah Switzer are requesting permission to take their classes to Audubon Zoo in New Orleans, LA on February 19, 2004
c. Request to use school facilities
(4) Bethany Spayde is requesting to use her classroom to teach a class (MAT457&MAT457L – methods for secondary math teacher & practicum) for the University of Southern Mississippi on Monday afternoons.

F. Budget Amendments
The Superintendent recommends approval of budget amendments to the FY’04 budget.
G. Personnel
1. Retirees
The Superintendent recommends the board accept the following resignations for people planning to retire at the end of the 2003-04 school year:
- Sybil Cheek, Reeves school food service department
- Kathy Roberts, teacher at Long Beach High School
- Cindy Rogers, teacher at Harper McCaughan
- Mary Felder, teacher at Harper McCaughan
2. Employment Recommendations
The Superintendent recommends approval of the following personnel for the remainder of the 2003-04 school year:
Non-Certified Personnel
Food Service Assistant Substitutes @ $5.75 per hour
- Maria Bratenas, effective February 2, 2004
- Eva Logan, effective January 7, 2004
- Felecia Washington, effective January 7, 2004
- E. Ann Hagin, effective January 20, 2004
- Quincy Fletcher as Food Service Assistant/Level 0 @ $6.17 per hour, effective February 17, 2004
- Kimberly Sherman as Food Service Assistant/Level 0 @ $6.17 per hour, effective February 17, 2004
- Leslie Vawter as part time Title I teaching assistant, no more than 20 hours per week at the rate of $8.16 per hour, retroactive to February 2, 2004.
- Renee Kenworthy as full time bus driver, effective February 9, 2004.
Certified Personnel
The Superintendent recommends employment of the following personnel for the remainder of the 2003-04 school year:
- Lori Price, Title I teacher, be increased from part time Title I teacher to full time Title I teacher, effective February 16, 2004, with all salary and benefits coming from Title funding
- Trian Platz as Behavioral Facilitator for Long Beach School District, effective February 16, 2004, with his salary to be funded by Part B funds based on an A level with 0 years experience
The Superintendent recommends the following administrative personnel for the 2004-05 school year:
- Susan Whiten - Mary Jean Harvey
- Eddie Holmes - Kenny Sims
- Christi Spinks - Pat Skellie
- Jamie Harvey - Peggy Hertz
- Debra Bertucci - Karen McManus
The Superintendent recommends the Board approve Debra Bertucci as designee for the sole purpose of recommending one central office employee (Jim Hamilton) as Chief Academic Officer.
3. Salary Correction
The Superintendent recommends amending Leonilda Thompson’s salary in the food service department from $6.94 per hour (approved at the December 8, 2003 board meeting) to Level 4 at $7.08 per hour.
