     Consent Agenda

     The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items:

 

     1.   Claims Docket

     2.   Financial Report

     3.   Substitute Report

     4.   Accept donations

a.  $2,970.00 from Quarles PTO for

             purchase of new projector and screen for use in their cafeteria

          b. $1,600 from Harper McCaughan PTO to purchase playground equipment

     5.   Disposal of surplus library books

 

E.   Budget Amendments

     The Superintendent recommends approval of budget amendments to the FY’05 budget.

 

F.   Ratify Poll Votes of School Board

     The Superintendent recommends ratifying poll votes of the school board taken on April 28, 2005:

 

1.    to accept the donation of an athletic scholarship and use existing practices to process the scholarship (voting for.

2.    to hire one teacher in a critical need area and hold off on everything else until budget is reviewed

 

G.   Proposal for Coastal Therapy Services, Inc. to Provide Occupational Therapy to students in Long Beach School District for the 2005-06 school year.

     The Superintendent recommends approval of the letter of agreement with Coastal Therapy Services, Inc. to Provide Occupational Therapy.

 

H.   Budget Update

     The Superintendent, Finance Director and Chief Academic Officer will give a budget update.

 

I.   Personnel

     1.   Resignations/Termination/Retirement

The Superintendent recommends acceptance of the following resignations:

 

CERTIFIED PERSONNEL

a.   Candis Spruill, teacher at Harper McCaughan,

     is resigning effective June 24, 2005

b.   Dianne Holbert, Choral Director at Long Beach High School, is resigning effective at the close of the 2004-05 school year.

c.   Jim Reaves, special education teacher is resigning effective at the close of the 2004-05 school year

 

 

 

NON-CERTIFIED PERSONNEL

d.   Brenda Wassman, library assistant at Reeves Elementary, is resigning at the end of this school term, May 19, 2005

e.   Heather Waggoner, Food Service Assistant at Harper McCaughan, is resigning effective April 14, 2005    

f.   Leslie Vawter, teacher assistant at Harper McCaughan, is resigning effective at the close of the 2004-05 school year

g.   Melissa Martin, teacher assistant at Harper McCaughan, is resigning effective May 19, 2005

h.   Melanie Jackson, teacher assistant at Harper McCaughan, is resigning effective May 19, 2005.

 

     2.   Employment Recommendations

The Superintendent recommends employing the following personnel:

 

CERTIFIED PERSONNEL

The following teachers are being recommended for re-employment for the 2005-06 school year. (They recently received their new teaching certificates:

 

a.   Guy Bowering as a teacher at Long Beach High School 

b.   Debbie Allen as a teacher at Long Beach Middle School

c.   Kim Strebeck as a teacher at Quarles

d.   Mary Alice Martin as a teacher at Quarles

 

NON-CERTIFIED PERSONNEL

 

e.   Roberta Johnson, Tammi Findlay and Brittani Freeman as Food Service Assistant Substitutes at $5.75 per hour, effective April 12, 2005 through the remainder of the 2004-05 school year

f.   hire three student positions in the maintenance department for summer labor at $6.25 per hour for grass cutting and weed eating

 

J.   Presentation of Policy to Sit on Table 30 Days before Adoption:  Long Beach High School Bearcat Band Handbook for 2005-06

 

K.   Request to Use School Facilities

     The Superintendent recommends approval for the Long Beach Youth Football League to Use the Middle School Gym on May 19-20, 2005 in case of rain for a football camp.

M.   Authorize Payment for Providing Homebound Services

     The Superintendent recommends authorizing payment for LaQuita Moore for providing homebound services for a middle school student.
