Casey Caviness – MS Winner “Most Positive Impact on Band Students”

Robert Johnson – NCTE Achievement Award in Writing

 

D.  Presentation by Robotics Team

    The Long Beach Middle School Robotics Team will do a short presentation of their project.

1.                   Consent Agenda

The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items:

 

a. Claims Docket  

b. Financial Report

c. Substitute Report

     d. Trip Approvals

        - Quarles first grade to Audubon Zoo on December 10, 2004

        - LBHS Youth Congress members to Clinton, MS on November 19 and 20, 2004 to participate at MS Youth Congress

        - LBHS girls’ basketball team to New Orleans, LA on November 21-23, 2004 to participate in “The Battle on the Bayou” at the Alario Center.

     e. Disposal of Surplus Equipment

 

F.  Award Bids on Surplus Buses

    The Superintendent recommends bids on surplus buses be awarded to the highest bidder.

 

G.  Set Up Long Beach High School Petty Cash Fund

    The Superintendent recommends setting up petty cash in the amount of $50 for Fund 7321 to reimburse club funds.

 

H.  Request to Add Second Course in Compensatory Writing

    The Superintendent recommends approval to add a second course in Compensatory Writing (Course #320146 )

 

I.  Student Release Requests

    The Superintendent recommends accepting the following children into Long Beach Schools whose parents are employees of our district:

J.  School Zone Transfer Request

    The Superintendent recommends denying a request to allow a student to finish out this year at Quarles and that the student be required to attend school in the zone in which she resides.

 

K.  Personnel

    Employment Recommendations

    The Superintendent recommends employment of the following personnel for the remainder of the 2004-05 school year:

   

 

·        April Daniels as Harper McCaughan teacher assistant retroactive to November 1, 2004 to be paid out of federal funds

·        Rodney Fisher as substitute bus driver, effective November 1, 2004

·        Clint Whitfield as a full time bus driver, starting November 1, 2004 to drive the “No Child Left Behind” route and he will also substitute for morning routes and afternoon elementary routes as needed.

·        the following individuals as food service assistants at $5.75 per hour:

     2.  Maintenance Director

   The Superintendent recommends Don Crawford as permanent director of maintenance.

 

     3.  Advanced Placement Class

         The Superintendent recommends Martha Hart to teach Advanced Placement US Government for one block of the day for second semester from 7:00 A.M.-7:50 A.M.

 

     4.  National Board Mentor

        The Superintendent recommends Carmen Peters continue to serve as National Board Mentor, as previously approved in the Federal Programs Project, at a budgeted salary of $4,000 which is funded by Title II.
