B.   Recognitions

     The following people will be recognized:

 

·        Bethany Spayde received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and is 2005 State Finalist

·        New Board Certified Teachers as follows:

              - Darlene Cormier - High School

              - Jan Cameron - Reeves

               - Jenny Webber - Reeves

              - Emily Robbins - Harper McCaughan

D.   Business

     Consent Agenda

     The Superintendent recommends approval of the consent agenda which includes the following items:

 

     1.   Claims Docket

     2.   Financial Report

     3.   Substitute Report

     4.   Disposal of Surplus Equipment    

     5.   Donations 

          The Superintendent recommends the board accept donations triggered by hurricane Katrina to all schools in Long Beach School District.   

   

E.   Ratify Poll Vote of Board Members

     The Superintendent recommends ratifying the unanimous yes poll votes of the school board taken on November 18th and 30th to allow St. John High School to use our facilities for their play-off games.

 

F.   Presentation of Policy

     The Superintendent will present a revised RIF policy (Reduction in Force) to sit on the table for 30 days before adoption.

 

G.   Acceptance of Contract with Memorial Hospital for School Clinics

     The Superintendent recommends approval of the contract with Memorial Hospital for School Clinics, pending review by our attorney.

 

H.   Personnel

     1.   Resignations

          The Superintendent recommends accepting the following resignations:

 

        Non-Certified Staff

 

·        Tina Collins, custodian, resigned effective November 30, 2005

·        Susan Hoover, Middle School Aide, resigned effective November 30, 2005

·        Rodney Fisher, full time bus driver, resigned from driving the bus, effective December 2, 2005

·        Ryan Bourgeois resigned as part-time technology technician, effective December 12, 2005.

 

     2.   Election of Personnel

          The Superintendent recommends approval to employ the following staff for the remainder of the 2005-06 school year:

 

        Non-Certified Staff

·        Lisa DesJardin as personal instructional assistant at Long Beach Middle School, effective December 12, 2005

·        Kim Valancius as Food Service Assistant Substitute @ $5.75 per hour, effective December 5, 2005

·        Christine Cassell as Food Service Assistant/Level 0 @ $6.17 per hour, effective December 8, 2005, with the probationary period waived

·        Bryan Rolison as full time bus driver at $9.25 per hour, replacing Rodney Fisher.  His effective date of employment is December 5, 2005

·        A. J. Mitchell as part time technology technician, replacing Ryan Bourgeois.  A. J. will start work on December 13, 2005 and will work no more than 19 hours per week at the rate of $8.00 per hour.

·        Kimberly Sherman to be rehired as food service assistant, Level 2 @ $6.61 per hour, effective December 7, 2005

·        Rita Keller as food service assistant, Level 0 @ $6.17 per hour, effective December 8, 2006, with probationary period waived

·        Dorothy Lewis as food service assistant, Level 0 @ $6.17 per hour, effective December 8, 2005, with probationary period waived.

 

     3.   Change in Personnel Recommendation

          The Superintendent recommends rescinding the recommendation of Thomas Boyer as a full time housekeeper, effective October 20, 2005.  He will continue as a substitute housekeeper until all requirements are met for full time employment.

     The Superintendent recommends housing Mr. Bobby Johnson, Southern District Supervisor over School Attendance Officers, Behind the Board Room.

 

K.   Resolution to Proceed with Note Borrowing for Land Purchase

     The Superintendent recommends adopting the resolution to proceed with note borrowing for land purchase.

 

L.   Executive Session

The Superintendent recommends going into executive session on a personnel issue.
